IS THERE AN IDENTITY CRISIS? ……I SAY NO

I read an interesting article about how Hispanics want to be identified and the majority (51%), stated the preferred to be called by their country of origin, fair enough**. According to this article, the term “Hispanic” was officially adopted by Congress in 1976 as a law to collect the information of U.S. residents with Spanish-speaking country origins. The Office of Management and Budget added the term “Latino” in 1997. Even worse, someone stated that Puerto Ricans are not Hispanics. Sounds confusing? It is. Let’s see if we can make some sense of it.

First of all, if someone was born somewhere in the Western Hemisphere, you are an American, period. The United States is not America, it’s part of the Americas. Second, the word “Hispanic” as defined in the United States is correct. Third, according to the survey, Hispanics are very aware that you need to speak English if you want to be successful in this country. The most recent Census states that there are more Hispanics that speak English than ever before, but want the Spanish language to be part of their heritage. After all, we grew up speaking Spanish and bilingual persons are supposed to be “smarter than the rest” (NY Times, March 17^th 2012, Why Bilinguals Are Smarter by Yudhijit Bhattacharjee). Those that want to define Puerto Ricans as “Americans that speak Spanish” are reaffirming that they are in fact, Hispanics, according to the laws of the United States.

The next time you are involved in some kind of discussion, the correct way to address your identity would be: I am a (your country of origin) American (you were born in the Americas) who can speak English. Or just say I am Hispanic. It’s the same thing.

At the end, names are not important. It’s what the name represents and how to gain the respect of all who live in the Americas. That is the most important part. If you want respect, no matter who or what you are called, unity is the best way to obtain respect. Names are just names. See you next week

The existential void of people

 A sociologist considers the origin of the existential void to the extent that the individual finds limited its ‘will to meaning’ (Frankl) or natural search of a rationale for his life and the things that happen. Last week we talked about our society and how distant and disconnected are some people with  the rest of society. However, if we go by the definition described above, power, shame, lack of respect for others, consumerism, superficiality and little sense of community that exists is what has led us through time, producing this limitation of the will to meaning. Supposedly we are a country of laws but for whom? Who benefits from the laws? Is there equality? I think if there is equality, we would not speak of an existential void. We constantly strive in finding solutions and do not resolve most problems that plague our communities. Most people make and do what others do. However, the existential void remains and deepens, because the more you want to “fill”, the bigger it gets. Indeed, we are “victims of the system in doing what anyone else says” … Think about it … All systems point to a society that does what someone else says and the other agreements “hide” in an event called the elections. But in reality, you choose, and they do what they want, not for you or me, but for them. It has come to a point where one of the most important values in life is afected: family. You read in the press every day about death, murder, suicide, drugs, racism and other events denoting the existential emptiness of society caused by the interests of a few.
Psychologist Dr. Marco Eduardo Murueta believes that lasting change requires the implementation of other measures which involve society as a whole. For example, speaks of creating a new work culture in which the worker is seen  as a human being with emotions  needed in order to  live more with his family, not to mention the value that would help people learn to enrich and respect relationships, and to make intelligent use of emotions.
The philosopher and psychologist concluded that it would be useful for society to create “viable and also uplifting ways to reach the political arena, where debates are reduced to looking for ‘who is the worst.” I think that instead of this, we should begin to generate proposals as to the creation of “schools for parents’, where parents are taught how to deal with their problems and develop new educational models that make the kids be more participatory in their community, or by which couples learn to be better and work together in our workplaces. Yes there is possibility to make a difference, and although not easy, at least we must try. ”
That is why if we don’t work together, 99% of our existence is an existential void.

EL VACÍO EXISTENCIAL DE UN PUEBLO

Dice un sociólogo que se puede considerar el origen del vacío existencial en la medida en que el individuo encuentre limitado su ‘voluntad de sentido’ (Frankl) o búsqueda natural de una razón de ser de su vida y de las cosas que ocurren. La semana pasada hablábamos de  nuestra sociedad y lo distantes y desconectados que están las personas con poder del resto de la sociedad.  Sin embargo , si nos dejamos llevar por la definición que describimos anteriormente, el poder, la afrenta , la falta de respeto a otros, el consumismo, la superficialidad  y el poco sentido de comunidad que tienen algunos es lo que nos ha llevado, a través del tiempo, a esta limitación de la voluntad de sentido. Supuestamente somos un país de leyes pero ¿Para quién? ¿Quiénes se beneficial de las leyes? ¿Existe la igualdad?  Creo que si la igualdad existiera, no tendríamos que hablar de un vacío existencial. Constantemente luchamos en la búsqueda de soluciones y no se resuelven la mayoría de los problemas que aquejan a nuestras comunidades.  La mayoría de las personas se conforman y hacen lo que los demás. Sin embargo, el vacío existencial permanece y se ahonda, pues mientras más se quiere “llenar”, más grande se hace. En verdad, somos “victimas del sistema de hacer lo que otro diga”…Piénsalo…Todos los sistemas apuntan a una sociedad que hace lo que otro dice y los acuerdos se “disimulan” en un evento llamado las elecciones. Pero en realidad, tú eliges, y ellos hacen lo que quieren, no es para ti ni para mí, sino para ellos. Ha llegado al extremo que el vacío afecta a la sociedad en su raíz más importante: La familia. Lees  en la prensa todos los días de muertes, asesinatos, suicidios, drogas, racismo y otros que denotan el vacío existencial de la sociedad causado por los intereses de unos pocos.

El psicólogo Dr. Marco Eduardo Murueta opina que un cambio duradero necesita de la realización de otras medidas que involucren a la sociedad en su conjunto. Por ejemplo, habla de crear una nueva cultura laboral en la que se contemple al trabajador como un ser humano con emociones que necesita convivir más con su familia, sin olvidar el valor que tendría ayudar a que las personas aprendan a establecer relaciones enriquecedoras y respetuosas, así como a hacer uso inteligente de sus emociones.

El filósofo y psicólogo concluye que sería de gran utilidad para toda la sociedad crear “alternativas viables y edificantes que alcancen también a la esfera política, en donde los debates se reducen a buscar ‘quién es el peor’. Considero que en vez de esto es posible empezar a generar propuestas como la creación de ‘escuelas para padres’, en donde se enseñe a los progenitores cómo enfrentar sus problemas, así como desarrollar nuevos modelos educativos que hagan que los chicos sean más participativos en su comunidad, o gracias a los cuales aprendamos a ser mejor pareja y a trabajar en equipo en nuestros centros laborales. Sí hay posibilidad de lograr un cambio, y aunque no es fácil, al menos podemos intentarlo”.

Es por esto que si no nos unimos todos, el 99% de nuestra existencia será un vacío existencial.

¿EL UNO PORCIENTO…SE MERECE EL DINERO?

Cada vez más se nota en nuestra sociedad lo distantes y desconectados que están las personas con dinero y poder del resto de la sociedad.  El famoso 1% se nota mucho más, y su fuerza contra el 99% es cada vez más arrolladora. Ahora yo me pregunto, ¿Por qué sucede esto? La contestación puede interpretarse de varias formas:

1. El que comenzó sin nada, trabajó duro, fue justo con sus empleados y con su comunidad y a todos les ha servido con honor. Este merece disfrutar de sus riquezas al máximo. Se lo ganó de forma honorable. ¡Bravo por este!
2. El que lo heredó y siguió el ejemplo de la familia anterior. ¡Bravo también!
3. El que se ha hecho de dinero a través de la politiquería
4. El que en su afrenta y avaricia atropella a otros hasta sacarles la última gota de sangre y sudor, mientras sus arcas se llenan sin importar las consecuencias de los demás.

Como verán, hay dos clases de unoporcentistas, unos honorables y otros, no tanto. Si el mundo tuviera más ricos del tipo uno y dos, el mundo sería mejor. Desgraciadamente la mayoría de los ricos caen en las categorías tres y cuatro donde no hay consideración para el pobre del país. Lo único que les mueve es el dinero y viven solo pensando en como ganar más, a cualquier precio, destruyendo vidas oprimiendo a la sociedad sin ningún tipo de respeto por los seres humanos (aunque lo parezca) y lo peor de todo, se  acreditan el éxito que logran a través de sus influencias y no reconocen al que verdaderamente pasó el trabajo de conseguir el resultado. Nuestro mundo está lleno de estos “cerdos de la afrenta”. Debemos descubrirlos y denunciarlos.

Afortunadamente, el miedo del 99% está cambiando paulatinamente. Hace unos meses, no se hablaba del tema. Ahora hay todo un movimiento que continúa organizándose y definiendo las injusticias de los “riquitillos”. Algunos de estos ricos han comenzado a abrir los ojos y ver que el 99% tiene el mismo derecho de tener una vida decente. Aplaudimos estos esfuerzos. Si eres parte del 99%, escribe a tu congresista, al jefe opresor, al terrateniente que te trata como esclavo y haz vales tus derechos. El que tengas menos no debe hacerte diferente. Al contrario, tu puedes lograr todo porque estás dispuesto a trabajar, no a manipular, a abusar, comprar influencias  y politiquear. Tú vales, eres decente. Ellos, si no están dispuestos a considerar el 99%, seguirán siendo “los cerdos de la afrenta”

Piénsalo, te la dejo ahí hasta la próxima semana.

DOES THE ONE PERCENT DESERVE THE MONEY?
More and more it shows in our society that the 1% is more distant and disconnected with the rest of society. The famous 1% is noticed more, and its strength against 99% is becoming overwhelming.

Now I wonder, why does this happen? The answer can be interpreted in several ways:
1. He who began with nothing, worked hard, was fair to his employees and his community and has served with honor. This person deserves to enjoy their wealth as possible. He earned it honorably. Bravo for this!
2. He who inherited riches and followed the example of the previous family. Bravo too!
3. He who has made money through influence selling and politics.
4. He who, with greed, tramples others until they lose their last drop of blood and sweat, while their coffers are filled with money regardless of the consequences of others.
You see, there are two kinds of onepercentists, some honorable and others not so much. If the world’s richest type were more one and two, the world would be better. Unfortunately most of the rich fall into the categories three and four where there is no consideration for the poor in the country. Their only motivation is money and the live only thinking how to earn more, at any price, destroying lives, oppressing society with no respect for human beings (despite appearances) and worst of all, credit the success achieved through their influences without recognizing those who spent the time and effort working to get the result. Our world is full of these “greed pigs.” We must discover and expose them.

Fortunately, the fear of the 99% is gradually changing. A few months ago, such an issue was not discussed. Now there’s a whole movement that continues organizing and defining the injustices of these discusting people.  Some of these rich people have begun to open their eyes and see that 99% has the same right to a decent life as they have. We applaud these efforts. If you are part of 99%, write to your congressman, your oppressing boss, the land owner who treats you like a slave and vouch for your rights. You should not think you are different. Instead, you can achieve all because you’re willing to work, not to manipulate, abuse, buy influences and using politics. You are decent. Them, if they are unwilling to consider the 99%, will remain “the greed pigs”

I read something the other day about the lack of leaders in the Hispanic community and I thought: Is it true?

After making an analysis, I concluded that there is confusion between what are leaders and “leaders” that are dictators or sellouts. The dictionary definition of leader is: A leader is a person who guides others toward a common goal, showing the way by example, and creating an environment in which team members feel actively involved throughout the process. If that is the definition of a leader, we must establish the differences. You can identify with these classifications.
We will list those who are leaders and those who are not:
1. The leader of an organization that has perpetuated in power and that is the only person who makes all the decisions (with some exceptions) … this is not a leader, it’s a bossy dictator.
2. The leader who calls himself or herself the representative of the whole community, but what it does is play politics … this is not a leader, it’s a sellout.
3. He who says he is the leader and shows up for the community only once every 4 years …  you can’t possibly think this is a leader.
4. He who says he is a leader and he hides behind big corporate interests … nothing else to say, a big sellout.
5. He who despises the other groups from other countries and offends them because the people of his country are “bosses”…. definitely not self-conscious leader. This is a dictator and dictating boss!

However, there are leaders here who truly serve this community in a selfless way and without expecting anything in return. Their desire to be agents of change goes beyond their personal ambitions. If you look carefully, you can find the. Do not be fooled by the leaders as previously described.  These people are not interested in you.  They only want to serve themselves. Search and find out ….you will find that there are leaders that are worth supporting! I’ll leave the rest to you.

Leí algo el otro día sobre la falta de líderes en la comunidad hispana y pensé: ¿Será verdad?

Luego de hacer un análisis, he llegado a la conclusión que hay una confusión entre lo que son lideres y los que son jefes, dictadores o vendidos. La definición de líder del diccionario es la siguiente: Un líder es una persona que guía a otros hacia una meta común, mostrando el camino por ejemplo, y creando un ambiente en el cual los otros miembros del equipo se sienten activamente involucrados en todo el proceso. Si esa es la definición de líder, tenemos que establecer las diferencias. Ustedes podrán identificarse con estas clasificaciones.

Vamos a enumerar los que son líderes y los que no lo son:

1. El líder de una organización que lleva perpetuándose en el poder y que es la única persona que decide (hay algunas excepciones)…este no es líder, es jefe dictador.
2. El que dice llamarse líder por toda la comunidad, pero lo que hace es jugar a la política…este tampoco es líder, es un vendido.
3. El que dice que es líder y solo lo vez cada 4 años… no es posible que creas que esto es un líder
4. El que dice que es líder y se escuda detrás de los grandes intereses…no hay más que decir, vendido.
5. El que menosprecia a los demás grupos de otros países y los ofende porque los de su país son “los jefes”….definitivamente no es líder ¡Es un acomplejado y jefe dictador!

Sin embargo, aquí sí hay líderes que verdaderamente le sirven a esta comunidad de forma desprendida y sin esperar nada a cambio. Su deseo de ser agentes de cambio va más allá de sus ambiciones personales. Si buscas con cuidado, los podrás encontrar. No te dejes engañar por los líderes como los que antes describí. Esa gente no te quiere. Solo se quieren a ellos mismos.  Busca y entérate…. ¡encontrarás que aquí SI tenemos lideres que valen! Ahí te la dejo.

¡Bienvenidos!  Iniciamos otra aventura periodística, a través de Radiomqm.com. Todos los lunes, presentaremos un editorial de lo que, a nuestro juicio, pasa en nuestro mundo, país, estado y nuestra comunidad.  Como siempre….las “cantamos como las vemos”.  Sus comentarios siempre serán bienvenidos y esperamos que todos participen en esta tertulia. Al igual que lo hacemos en nuestra emisora, nuestros escritos estarán en Español y en Inglés. Gracias por acompañarnos en esta nueva etapa…

¿ELECCIONES O SUBASTACIONES ?

La política local, nacional y mundial se ha convertido en el derecho del pueblo a elegir a una persona que los represente a través de la compraventa de posiciones para enriquecer a unos pocos sin importar el voto del pueblo. Todo es una compraventa de almas para el candidato. Fíjate…el 47% de los miembros del Congreso llegaron allí sin dinero y ahora son millonarios, las campañas políticas son dirigidas por los llamados SuperPAC’s, o sea, el candidato que más dinero obtiene por parte de los grandes intereses económicos es el ganador. Las elecciones son hoy día una subasta al mejor postor por una posición, con el fin de politiquear y continuar abusando con el pueblo, y a la vez aumentar sus arcas personales. Es importante aclarar que esto sucede en ambos lados político partidistas. Así es que nos espera un futuro con el senador de tal o cual tienda por departamentos, el representante de tal o cual unión obrera y los que son elegidos por “favores” políticos. En nuestro propio patio ocurre lo mismo…un dominio absoluto por un grupo de personas que solo les importa su bienestar. Servidores públicos que se han servido del pueblo por muchos años, sin límites reales de tiempo y sin preocupación por los cambios que ha habido en su comunidad.  La falta de credibilidad de estos (y otros que dicen llamarse servidores) han convertido a nuestra comunidad en una de discusión, división, discrimen y desorden.  Aquí también los intereses  y favores políticos han comenzado a moverse, y la imposición de la fuerza contra otros grupos comienza a verse. Tenemos un grupo de llamados líderes que son tan ciegos que tampoco ven más allá de sus intereses. Vemos líderes que ahora salen a la calle y participan activamente en eventos, para luego no verles más. Líderes que durante años han presentado una cara de héroes a la comunidad, cuando en realidad lo que hacen es manipular al pueblo a su favor. Personas de otras nacionalidades haciéndose pasar por líderes de la comunidad hispana, cuando en realidad, lo que han hecho es usar la comunidad a su favor económico. ¿Hasta cuándo la gente seguirá con la venda en los ojos?  ¿Es que estamos tan acostumbrados a dejarnos comprar y embabucar por estos líderes falsos?

Es hora que pensemos con claridad en lo que realmente queremos;  ¿personas que se hacen pasar por líderes, personas que solo buscan su bienestar a través de la manipulación?  Es hora de darnos a respetar y no ser parte de esta “subastación”. Confía en tu corazón, no en palabras de políticos. Ellos no te quieren. Ahí te lo dejo……

MY WAY…..

Welcome! We start another journalistic adventure through Radiomqm.com. ELECTIONS OR ELECTAUCTIONS?

Local politics, national and worldwide has become the people’s right to choose a person to represent us through the sale of positions to enrich a few regardless of the vote of the people. Everything is a sale of souls to the candidate. Example … 47% of members of Congress got there with no money and are now millionaires, political campaigns are run by SUPERPAC’s which in realty mean that, the candidate who gets more money from the big economic interests is the winner. Elections are now an auction to the highest bidder for a position, so they can continue playing politics and abusing the people, while increasing their personal wealth. It is important to note that this happens on both sides of the political spectrum. So we face a future with the Senator this or that department store, the representative of a particular labor union and those who are elected by “favors” politicians. In our own backyard it’s the same … a stranglehold by a group of people who only care about their welfare. Public servants who have served the people for many years without real time limits and without any concern about the changes that have occurred in the community. The lack of credibility of these people (and other servers who call themselves leaders) have turned our community in a discussion, division, discrimination and disorder. Here also the interests and political favors have begun to move, and the imposition of force against other groups is starting to show. We have a group of so called leaders who are so blind that they cannot see beyond their own interests. We see leaders who now go out and actively participate in events, and after the election will not be seen until the next one. These are leaders who for years have presented their face of “heroes” to the community, when in fact what they do is manipulate the people in their favor. There are also people of other nationalities posing as leaders of the Hispanic community, when in fact what they have done for years is use the community to its economic favor. How long will people with blinders on? Are we so used to let us be bought and fooled by these false leaders?
It’s time to think clearly about what you really want; can people who pose as leaders, people who only seek their welfare through manipulation? It is time for us to demand respect and not be part of this        “ELECTAUCTIONS “. Trust your heart, not the words of politicians. They do not like you.
