  • MY WAY 27: EVERYONE WANTS PUERTO RICO TO BE THE 51ST STATE? THAT IS A LIE!!

    MY WAY 26

EVERYONE WANTS PUERTO RICO TO BE THE 51ST STATE? THAT IS A LIE!!

In the last days, I have been seeing people writing that EVERYONE wants Puerto Rico to be the 51st state of the union. Let me guarantee all of my readers that whoever says that is a LIER!!

For your information, first and foremost, the ideal if statehood has been presented to the people of Puerto Rico 4 times and statehood has LOST IN ALL OF THEM! The second thing is that this is a decision that has to be made by Congress and they DON’T WANT IT TO HAPPEN!

I must make it clear that my views are non-partisan, here or in Puerto Rico.

Anyway, I am including an article written last year by Julio Varela. It is more than a logical explanation about why Puerto Rico will NEVER be a state. I hope you enjoy this article. As always your comments are welcome. But please, don’t lie saying that ALL Puertorricans want statehood. You know better than that. You know who you are……see you next week.

  • MY WAY 26: 150 Years of the Abolishment of Slavery….really?

150 Years of the Abolishment of slavery….really?

This month of September, marks the 150th anniversary of the abolishment of slavery, but even with all these efforts, slavery continues here in the United States; it continues in underpaid farm workers, underpaid restaurant workers, drug “mules”, hotel workers, and many others. Human trafficking continues worldwide and seems to be unstoppable.

But there is one reason for this, a main reason. It’s called GREED.  As a matter of fact, greed is the principal destroyer of society as we know it. There is nothing wrong about being prosperous and successful; but if your success and prosperity is based on the exploitation of others the bank worth net is good, but the moral values bank is at a negative. Those that practice this type of “prosperity by exploitation” do not deserve our respect, these people are really despicable. Someone told me once, are you against rich people? My answer was, “if you work hard, you are fair to others and you become prosper, I am the first one to applaud you efforts”. But you and I know that is not always the case. Riches in this country are unfairly distributed, and some of those that have more, have exploited humanity to reach their goals.

You might say, life is not fair….probably because we have never done anything about it for ourselves. We should assume a more positive attitude, denounce the abuses of some of the powerful and wealthy, and work hard, without greed, to leave a better world for our children. Just think about it. See you next week.

  • MY WAY 25: THE CONVENTIONS ARE OVER….NOW WHAT?

    THE CONVENTIONS ARE OVER….NOW WHAT?

Well, it’s over. Finally, the money spent, the parties, the inconveniences, and the “militarization” of cities and let’s not forget Isaac. After this, there are 2 general ideas we can learn from them:

THE DEMOCRATIC IDEA: If we elect Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, the nation is going straight down the toilet.

THE REPUBLICAN IDEA: If we re-elect Barack Obama and Joe Biden, the nation is going straight down the toilet.

They spent millions of dollars of taxpayers’ money to come to these 2 conclusions.

Now that we know this, it is time for us to start really thinking what to do. They had a chance to try to convince one and other on what they will do, in their own particular way.  We will see no more conventions for the next 4 years and we still have no idea where this country is going to.  Some think that, no matter who wins we will be screwed anyway.

What is definitely true is that you should vote. The future is so uncertain it is more important than ever that people register and vote. This country has never been so divided, and its time politicians on both sides learn, once and for all, that government id FOR THE PEOPLE, not for a party or for the inept people that are in Congress. The time has come for the people to shout out, and express their feelings without being confused by political rhetoric, or who has more money to spend on ads. May the truth be with all of us? See you next week.

  • My Way 24: WHAT WAS THE FINAL RESULT OF THE GOP CONVENTION IN TAMPA?

WHAT WAS THE FINAL RESULT OF THE GOP CONVENTION IN TAMPA?

Here is a brief summary of what REALLY happened during the GOP convention

    1. First of all, the famous “Screaming of USA” when the Puerto Rican delegation was presenting their votes….It was reported that these were Ron Paul supporters…no, it was a group of rednecks screaming. But why did it have to happen when a woman, and a Hispanic woman was about to speak? Things that make you go whmmm……
    2. The “sudden” CHANGE OF RULES! According to cpflorida.com, this happened:  According to the rules of the Party, 5 States are required to nominate a candidate for President and allow him to speak and petition delegates for his candidacy. Six States nominated Ron Paul for President. And, those six states mentioned do not include the “apparent Ron Paul delegate majority state of Maine”. So Ron Paul and Mitt Romney should have been fighting it out amongst the delegates in Tampa right? No….So what does the Republican Party do? They change the rule to 8 states right there!
    3. According to reports, some merchants In Tampa will have to CLOSE THEIR BUSINESSES due to the fact that they were practically shut down as a consequence of the Convention.
    4. It was proven that the GOP has NO IDEA of what the Hispanic vote is or means.  At least the other side has “an appearance” that makes them look like they know.
      1. Apparently, there were also some racial problems, according to 2012talkingpointsmemo.com: Underscoring the convention coverage since the first real day of speeches began has been the nasty incident in which attendees taunted a black CNN camerawoman by throwing peanuts and saying, “This is how we feed the animals.” Though the convention organizers strongly condemned the incident, the victim of the taunts, Patricia Carroll said that behavior is a sign that the GOP is not exactly comfortable with African-Americans. “You come to places like this, you can count the black people on your hand,” Carroll told the Maynard Institute. “They see us doing things they don’t think I should do.”  There are not that many black women there,” she said of the hall in Tampa. On stage Rice and Utah congressional candidate Mia Love were greeted with enthusiastic cheers, but for Carroll the message of the convention is still one of exclusion.
      2. The Romney campaign hoped Ann Romney could quell the remaining concerns about the Hispanic vote, and it dispatched her to speak to a Hispanic audience Wednesday. While the party debated how to appeal to more Hispanics, Ann Romney told an audience here that the real problem lies with Hispanic voters, not with the GOP. “It really is a message that would resonate well if they could just get past some of their biases that have been there from the Democratic machines that have made us look like we don’t care about this community,” Romney told the Latino Coalition. “And that is not true. We very much care about you and your families and the opportunities that are there for you and your families.” According to NBC, Romney also ran afoul of her audience when she said of the Puerto Rican delegation, “You people know how to party.” “I did not think it was demeaning, but I did think it was a poor choice of words, and she should probably lose that from her vocabulary,” one attendee told NBC.

We could talk about other thing that happened during the convention, but this is so you understand that these events, as we mentioned last week, have no real reason to be celebrated, even more, AT OUR EXPENSE!!

Don’t believe everything you hear, evaluate, analyze and then decide….parties are no good, for anybody. Let’s see what next week’s other Circus brings to Charlotte. See you next week!
